The day you returned from
a hectic first day at school-
and slipping into my arms, said,
“Ma, I am good,
just don’t talk for some time,
but, let me be here now.”
It seems just a week has gone,
But years have passed;
From school to college
To higher studies…
And, now you are married,
Residing away from me, so far.
This summer, your visit
brought back to me,
the memories of that day-
A pleasant thing happened
With me, that day.
Your five-year-old fairy
rushed into my arms to say,
“Nani! I am good,
But, no talk for some time,
Just let me be here now.”
Days became months,
Months rolled into years;
Years will become decades,
Colours of past will turn faded.
My hair is turning grey,
I am forgetting many things:
Many a times, I’m oscillating,
between present and past things.
That innocent gift of love
just brushed up my memory….
As I took into my arms,
my little fairy.
