100 Best Books of All Time | Part - IV

Updated: May 14, 2022

From the best fiction books to the best nonfiction books, there are so many excellent titles around the world. I believe the best books open our minds to new characters, points of view and worlds. They stay with us long after the last page is read. They make us want to share them with everyone.

To land in the top 100, a book needed to truly stand out in the stacks. I have considered bestsellers, award winners and books that are highly rated by readers and critics alike. Many have been made into blockbuster movies. Many are taught in schools today.

And most have had profound impacts on literature, culture and the world in general. My list includes everything from classics to new favourites, the best biographies to the best children’s books. Here is Part IV

  • Catch-22 by Joseph Heller (1961)

  • Persepolis: The Story of a Childhood by Marjane Satrapi (2000)

  • Charlotte’s Web by E.B. White (1952)

  • Slaughterhouse-Five by Kurt Vonnegut (1969)

  • Cutting for Stone by Abraham Verghese (2009)

  • The Autobiography of Malcolm X: As Told to Alex Haley by Malcolm X and Alex Haley (1965)

  • Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas: A Savage Journey to the Heart of the American Dream by Hunter S. Thompson (1971)

  • Interpreter of Maladies by Jhumpa Lahiri (1999)

  • The Diary of a Young Girl by Anne Frank (1947)

  • Lolita by Vladimir Nabokov (1955)
