This was quite a short read for me. Not boasting but it took me an hour to completely read the book from start to end.
The novel is about Neh, an introverted girl who had planned everything about her life since day one of her college. She was even anxious about her orientation. That reminded me of myself 22 years ago when I was on the first day of my job.
Slowly the novel tells us about her college life, friends, their college routine, her love life and to a certain extent her Sex life too.
Things are going pretty smooth and then the night of 9/10 happens which completely turns her life and her future turned to be the exact opposite of what she had thought of.
Yet, she never loses hope. She stands up again and tries to embark on the journey again she lost previously. And her father stands with her as strong support throughout all her fight. And at the end, she comes out as a winner beating all the odds.
While reading at some points you may imagine yourself in the same phase or have been through it once. I happened to do it on many occasions.
The theme of the story is very bold and thought-provoking. The way the voice of our Indian girls has continued to be suppressed even after they were the victims in the hands of the evils of society has been highlighted boldly in this piece.
The language of the story is so easy to read that the readers won't find it difficult to finish the story in one go. A perfect combination for a reader who is just starting.
I feel that the characters could have been given more mileage and if the author would have created greater depths to each of the characters along with other small plots added to the main plot the number of pages would have gone up certainly and also the storyline could have been more interesting and effective.
